Crashing at Morgan’s in Montreal

amylin and I have been crashing at Morgan’s (6 1/2) in Montreal since Thursday.  We hitchhiked here from Northampshire, MA, where we stayed with Joe. We had left a bit later than planned so it was not easy to get to Montreal. There are hardly any cars driving from the US to Canada these days, not even Canadians, even though the CAN$ is almost exactly worth as much as the US$ these days.  I booked progress in many projects, and it even looks as if Paolo and I might be able to finish our first paper next week.  I also added some wiki integration to Morgan’s Crash project.

Tomorrow we’ll be leaving for Boston again.

Here’s another picture, actually taken without my presence, but it’s appropriate…

What helpful timing. I’m planning to head to NY first, then up to Cambridge MA and finally hitch up to Canada. How was it? Did you get a lift in the end? Is it a one day hitch do you think?

Nice new layout, congrats to amylin :) say hi to Morgan, and hope you get a chance to catch up with John, finally, unless he’s too busy, of course ;)

Callum, hitching in the US (apart from West Coast) is not easy if you’re not a girl on your own. Especially because it’s getting darker and darker. In the end we were stuck at a gas station right before the border, because of the lack of light, with 1 Canadian car an hour. Better find some hosts on the way and do e.g. 2,5 hours a day. If you hit the road early you’ll be fine. Hitching in Quebec is great though, so once you cross the border (during daylight) you’re fine. Today we hitched from Montreal to Boston in one day, but… don’t count on it. It’s probably better when you’re hitching with a girl. NY state is quite bad for hitching. Take the 15$ Chinatown bus from NY to Boston! Also, check Hitchwiki! :)
Anu, I did the design on my own, mostly! Just some minor consulting of amylin, but well, she did make all the pictures of course :)
And, it’s almost certain that I’m meeting John tomorrow!

Excellent! Big greetings for John and hope you’ll not spend the whole time talking about things past but focus on what’s ahead, and form the bonds you will need for that… (I’m the one to talk though, seems especially hard to let go even if I’ve finally made the break from it all)

hitch-hiking in the u.s. somehow sounds scary to me. i like my little country roads in romania better i think. :) but i’m sure i will try the u.s. some time as well. good to read that quebec works well though. i have a few dear friends in montreal (all of which i met in turkey at different occasions, some knew each other, some bumped into each other in montreal later - weird) who keep inviting me over to take part in cool media art projects. darn, when is the next free boat?
